As part of the Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) process, you will be required to take daily medications to prepare your uterus for transfer, and subsequently support a developing pregnancy. These daily medications may be administered by mouth, vagina, transdermal patch, SQ injection and IM injection. *Please note that the clinic will provide medication training and detailed instructions before the start of your cycle. You will be required to continue some medications after positive pregnancy, as directed by the clinic. This can mean IM injections of Progesterone in Oil for about 10 weeks. Most surrogates have their husbands or partners do the injections, but some choose to do it themselves.
Are you comfortable taking daily IM (intramuscular injections) medications?
We understand the topic of pregnancy termination is very sensitive. This is especially true in relation to a surrogacy journey. While most embryos do undergo genetic testing prior to transfer, it is impossible to ultimately predict if the fetus will have a serious genetic abnormality, medical condition, or other diagnosis that could potentially affect long-term quality of life.
